A business woman by profession and hailing from one of the least developed parts of Pakistan. She successfully conducted 4 Pakistan Development Forums, PDF’s, and the 3rd World Islamic Economic Forum, WIEF. Over the years she has developed expertise in Aid Effectiveness.
As Minister for Foreign Affairs she was the lead diplomat negotiating on Pakistan s behalf on crucial issues. Her focus remained reaching out to the region and correcting some of Pakistan s most difficult relationships. During her tenure as Foreign Minister, Pakistan announced normalising trade with India. With Afghanistan we saw Pakistan reaching out to groups that were considered to be Pakistan s enemies, thus shunning the policy of having favourites in Afghanistan. She also worked vigorously to make some regional economic projects a reality such as CASA 1000 and IP.
