The basic question and answer under review: "What is the most basic, solid foundation upon which to build a socio-economic environment in Canada that will allow the country to prosper without the highly dislocative problem of inflation?" Institutions must "serve people as individuals. They must ensure that the fundamental rights of the individual to freedom, opportunity and justice are respected." A basic mistrust of our institutions. Following is an examination of the institutions of unions, governments and corporations against the yardstick proposed regarding individual rights and freedoms. Conclusions include the need for all three institutions to pay more attention to the individual. The helplessness that Canadians feel towards institutions. New approaches needed.
